Melba J. Congleton Memorial Service Award

Melba J. Congleton served as  a Director, Treasurer and Education Committee Chairperson for the South West Florida Chapter of NAIC from 1993-2000.  She exemplified volunteerism by  helping her fellow investors and by promoting the Chapter's activities. She also attended NAIC Congresses to improve her own skills in investing.  Melba often spent her own time and money to help students learn investing the NAIC way.   She had a strong sense of dedication, stamina to see things through,  and an excellent rapport with fellow Chapter members.  In honor of her efforts, the South West Florida Chapter establishes the Melba J. Congleton Service Award.

The Melba J. Congleton Service Award may be presented to the person  who best epitomizes outstanding service to fellow investors, either within an investment club or as individual NAIC member.  

Requirements for the award:

1.      Individuals must be nominated by letter to the South West Florida Chapter (SWFC)  president by January 15^th.    The SWFC president will form a committee to review nominations and make a selection.

2.      Persons nominated must:

A.  Be current members of  SWFC-NAIC and  live within Charlotte,   

            Collier, Glades, Hendry, or Lee Counties.        

B.      Be members of SWFC-NAIC for at least 2 years and have provided service for at least  2 years.

C.      Provide unselfishly of their  time and effort to promote NAIC methods and principles.

D.      Epitomize volunteerism.

E.       Work without seeking recognition.

F.       Not be a director, associate director, or volunteer of SWFC Board.

Any current member of SWFC-NAIC  may make a nomination of a member.  Letters of Nomination should detail the above information and give specific examples of why the person should receive the award.  Please include the  name, the  phone number, the NAIC membership number and the e-mail address of the nominee as well as the person making the nomination.

An appropriate award will be presented  to the person selected at the Annual Meeting, usually held in April.
