Change In BetterInvesting Log In Instructions

If you subscribe to the S&P Datafiles from BetterInvesting, the following information is important.  As of January 18, 2006, unless you make the simple changes outlined below, you will not be able to download SSG datafiles.  This is necessary to comply with a security upgrade to the BetterInvesting web site and S&P Data Feed.

Everyone's login to the BetterInvesting Web Site will be changed on Jan. 18, to your member number.  This number is in the address label of your BI Magazine.  Use the number to the right of the dash in the line above your name.  You will need to log in to the web site to confirm the change. 
To facilitate this change simply click on: https://www.betterinvesting.org/member/login.html?target_uri=/member/login.html and enter your membership number and your current password.

Next, you will need to go into your software and change your login ID and password from your email address to your membership number (or whatever alternate login and password you have selected.  Here's where to find the fields you need to update:

In Toolkit 5, look in Options/ Preferences/ File Locations/ Default Data Subscription.

ToolKit4 users will have to Manually download your SSG files to your computer and then Import into TK4. See the NOTE below for the workaround procedure if you want to continue to use the automatic download feature.

In Stock Analyst, look in Options/ Preferences/ General.

In Classic Plus, look in Options/ Preferences/ General.

In Prospector, look in File/ Import/ Download NAIC OPS datafiles.

In BI Personal Record Manager (PRK), look in File/ Preferences/ NAIC Online.

In each case, change your email address to your new login ID, and update your password if necessary, then save your changes.

By the way, if you use BetterInvesting investment analysis software but do not subscribe to the BetterInvesting S&P datafiles (formerly OPS), you really owe it to yourself to go to

to investigate.  At $25 a year for current SSG datafiles on thousands of companies, plus daily data and price updates, it's an incredible timesaver and bargain!

ToolKit 4 Users PLEASE NOTE: The Toolkit 4 data import function is NOT compatible with the changed login procedure, and cannot be used to automatically download SSG datafiles as of January 18, 2006. Registered users have been notified that they will need to update to Toolkit 5 if they wish to continue downloading S&P datafiles.

You can manually download the SSG file from the BetterInvesting website to your computer and then Import into TK4. If you want to "automatically" download into TK4 there is a "workaround" on the Biwiki Site. It can be done however it involves many steps.  http://biwiki.editme.com/Toolkit4DownloadHelper
