MAY 2006Printer Friendly VersionDirector Attends West Coast Regional ConferenceClem Rybacki and I attended the BI "Financial Fitness for Success" seminar @ Concordia University in Irvine, CA. on May 13th. Four local chapters conducted the seminar. It was well worth the trip. The conference was well organized with many breakout sessions to attract everyone's interest. Educational presentations included: Finding great stocks and Investing Successfully, Investing in ADRs, What to ask Investor Relations, Double Your Money in 5 years, SSG Evaluation, What are Annual Reports, Magic of Toolkit, and others. There were also corporate-sponsored sessions by Rinker Group, Swift Energy, Baldor, Granite Construction, Sanofi-Aventis, SAP, Toyota, Pan Pacific Partners, and GE. Each session was 45 minutes with 15-minute breaks between sessions. The opening speaker Jeff Levy (the computer guy), who has 2 weekly radio shows, was really interesting. He explained what everyone should do to maintain his or her computer, such as blowing out the dust every 6 months. Each session was well organized and to the point. Almost all sessions used a Power Point or some projector along with handouts. Lunch was included. I noticed a basic need to understand the SSG from the questions that were asked. I made notes regarding "Pros" and "Cons" of this worthwhile conference if our chapter ever decides to sponsor such a seminar. Ron Plummer, Director, Las Vegas Chapter |
