"I suppose I might have learned all this on my own without belong to an investment club (I now belong to three clubs). However I wonder if I would have pushed so hard to regularly do my research and prepare studies if I didn't know that folks would be waiting for my input and contributions at a meeting tomorrow? Would I have been so alert to current news if I wasn't on the lookout for information on a particular industry, sector of the economy or trend? Would I have ferreted out articles on companies if its subject wasn't a stock one of the clubs owned or was interested in? And would I have done all this consistently over time, month in and month out?"
