We were all recently retired and wished to maintain our current lifestyle. We're originally from all over the United States and now live in a delightful, active retirement community. More than half our 25 members have been with us since our inception. Every member participates in preparing reports and as a result has become familiar with the stock selection process. We use the BetterInvesting accounting system on our home computers, and two members track our transactions and keep the accounting up to date. We currently have 13 stocks in our diversified portfolio. Stocks that have done particularly well for us in the past are Dell Inc., Harley-Davidson, Inc., Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and The St. Joe Company. A few have disappointed us, but we have learned from our mistakes. Club members have a lot of fun as a group and are fortunate to live near the Gulf Coast. We visit restaurants and have social gatherings on the verandah of our country club. We invite guest speakers to enhance our meetings. Past speakers have included a local historian, a speaker from hospice and an author from our community. Our club goals were determined by a theme of the "three E's":
We all agree that we're achieving our goals while making a lot of friends in the process. |
